February 3, 2014 Houston, TX-  As social media remains the number one activity for online users, business owners must stay “in the know” on the latest tips and tricks to reach new customers and retain existing ones. “Brain Candy for Biz” is a hands-on social media workshop, founded by Digital Public Relations Expert and President of Medley Inc., Ashley Small, that aims to make the social arena less confusing. The three-hour course will take place on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 2500 Summer Street, Suite #3217.

Sessions are limited to 10 participants. During the workshop, attendees will create custom social media plans, identify the best tools for their businesses, understand the do’s and don’ts of social media and much more.

“Fortunately, there is a great deal of information available about social media both on and offline. My goal here is to act as a filter and help business owners identify and implement the tools and processes that meet their unique business needs,” Small said.

In just five years, Small has garnered the attention of national news outlets like Fast Company Magazine and the Live Well Network, where she has offered her expertise in social media and entrepreneurship. Small founded Medley Inc. in 2009 with the intent to help other businesses succeed through the company’s fresh, non-traditional approach to branding and public relations. “Brain Candy for Biz” is her solution for small business owners who are not quite ready to make the investment needed for an outside marketing firm.

“I realized early on in business that a standard, retainer package is not meant for everyone. It doesn’t make sense financially for some business owners and professionals who have the time and capacity to do a lot of the work on their own. This workshop offers them guidance,” explained Small. “I believe in helping other business owners succeed, and this is my way of supporting them at various levels.”

Last fall, Small introduced a two-part workshop to the Houston market and quickly realized there was a demand for this type of education, with Houston being an emerging city for entrepreneurs. The fall workshops were well received by both established and emerging business owners and Small was quickly inspired to bring them back.

“The entire workshop was done quite well. The first and final hours reviewed the different social media sites and how to effectively use them. The second hour offered individual attention. It was the best workshop I have ever attended. As an academic, that’s saying a lot,” described  education expert, Sharon Washington, Ph.D., the founder of tvEMV.

The workshop registration fee is $75. To learn more about “Brain Candy for Biz” visit www.medley-inc.com or februarybraincandyforbiz.eventbrite.com.
